The late Horace E. Smith, Esquire, who practiced in York, Pennsylvania until his death in 1991, founded our law firm in 1940. Attorney Smith established his law practice at 124 East Market Street, York, Pennsylvania where it would remain until his death; Ruth B. Kisiner, his secretary when the law firm was established, remained with the law firm until her retirement in 1997. A life-long resident of Red Lion, Pennsylvania, Attorney Smith was a graduate of Lafayette College and the University of Virginia School of Law. During his long and distinguished career, Attorney Smith pioneered the merger of York County National Bank and Trust Company, Western National Bank of York and Farmer's & Merchant's National Bank of Red Lion into the National Bank of York County in 1959. This was believed to be the first three-way merger of banks in Pennsylvania and one of the first such bank mergers in the United States.
Attorney David P. Baker joined the law firm upon graduation from law school in 1976. Attorney Charles J. Long joined the law firm in 1982. The present name of the law firm was adopted in 1993.
